New commercial team for Carter Jonas

Creating the largest, independent firm of property consultants in Oxfordshire

On 1 June 2007, the former directors and staff of Thomas Merrifield Commercial, Oxfordshire’s leading commercial property specialists, joined Carter Jonas.   This move makes Carter Jonas the largest independent, multi-disciplinary firm of property consultants in Oxfordshire.

The new commercial team at Carter Jonas will provide clients with a stronger and more versatile service, dealing with all aspect of commercial property in the Oxfordshire area.  This includes the sale and letting of offices, retail and industrial property, the acquisition of land and buildings, rent reviews, lease renewals, rating advice, valuations, compensation advice, development and planning appraisals and property management.

Graham Candy, Equity Partner, Carter Jonas, said: “Carter Jonas now has a strong commercial presence across the region.  Scott, Andy and their well established and experienced team, join to complete our range of professional property services in the area and enables Carter Jonas to meet a wider set of customer needs.  It is a significant move for Carter Jonas and underlines our commitment to growing the business.”

Scott Harkness commented: “In many respects, it is business as usual for our clients.  It’s exactly the same team and a similar structure, but as part of Carter Jonas, we can offer access to a wider range of skills and a greater range of services, with national reach.   Our expertise has always been focused on delivering a full range of commercial property services to the Oxfordshire area, and this won’t change.”

With immediate effect, the full team becomes part of Carter Jonas LLP and in the short term, will continue to operate out of their current offices in Botley, just outside Oxford.

Witney Office Village, the new office development project on Windrush Park, Witney, was officially opened on 22 March 2007 by Guest of Honour, David Cameron, MP for Witney.  The champagne reception that followed was hosted by Network Estates, developers of the Network Point project, and the new commercial team at Carter Jonas, with sumptuous food provided by Windrush Frozen Food (WFF).

It has a skilled workforce, good links to the science-based and publishing businesses that have clustered around Oxford, and a local council that is pro-business. It gives me great pleasure to be here – congratulations for getting such an impressive scheme together.”

Witney Office Village, part of the £7.5m commercial property development at Network Point, is situated on Windrush Park, just off Range Park Road in Witney.   The reception was held in Unit 1 B/C, a 6500 sq ft headquarters office building that has been let to Windrush Frozen Food, suppliers and distributors of frozen, chilled and ambient food service products to themed restaurants, hotel groups and contract catering accounts.
